Filling in a Swimming Pool
We love our pools in Arizona, right? It’s great with young kids to enjoy summer, adds a beautiful oasis feel in a dry climate.
However, the maintenance and water evaporation loss combine to make pools a difficult choice for your lifestyle and our changing climate.
These homeowners took the leap to fill in their pool. Take a look at the transformation
Usually covered to reduce maintenance and evaporation, this pool was never used.
First step is to bust up the pool decking, and fill it in!
These wooden beds were 15 years old, and we were going to redesign this whole space, so time to replace them.
After taking out the old wood, we sifted the soil from tree roots and eventually will move the soil over.
Here's the finished pool filled in. Moving the raised bed garden to this area, adding native and edible plants, and bringing some new vibes to this blank slate!
A brick pathway connects the garage to the home for ease of travel and also carting groceries in a little wagon.
Finished Pathway, plant locations getting marked
The wooden raised beds need a stain safe for vegetable gardening.
Filled in, with irrigation, and tepary beans have volunteered from the old garden! In the future we will add archway trellises, and the entire area will be mulched.
